Aargh ! Pirates!

Ahoy thar, matey! Be this the Pirates story-time theme for this week. The kids and I had a blast reading some wonderful pirate stories and learning to speak pirate (well...we tried). As a craft, we made pirate swords using good ole' newspaper and tape. Shiver me timbers! This was the cheapest craft I may say... Next week, we seek bury treasure. Diggers needed, a good one to boot!

Down yonder books featuring pirates:
  • *Bubble Bath Pirates by Jarrett Krosoczka
  • *How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long
  • *I Love My Pirate Papa by Laura Leuck
  • Pirates Don't Change Diapers by Melinda Long
  • Do Pirates Take Baths? by Kathy Tucker
  • This Little Pirate by Philemon Sturges (similar to "This Little Piggie")
  • The No-Good Do Good Pirates by Kim Kraft (too long but good for the older kids)
  • You Can Do Anything, Daddy! by Michael Rex (a good story for Father's Day theme)
