Community Helpers: What People Do?

Happy Earth Day!!!! Today, Margie read books about community helpers. Next week I will share some of these books with my group on Monday but I'm going to try to bring in some props or blow-up color pictures for the kids to guess or act out what community helpers do. I may even try to engage them in talking about what they may want to be when they grow up. Too bad I don't know anyone but I wish I could have a guess speaker come and entertain the kids with a story. Oh well....maybe some other time. We found stories about truck drivers, teachers, zookeepers, garbage man, police officers, baker, apple farmer, firefighter, and more.

This week's selection:
  1. *Drive by Nathan Clement
  2. *Sam Who Never Forgets by Eve Rice
  3. *Whose Shoes? a shoe for every job by Stepn R. Swinbourne (Kids and parents liked it.)
  4. What Teachers Can't Do? by Douglas Wood
  5. *Guess Who? by Margaret Miller E 331.7 M
  6. Guess Who? by Marcia Leonard
  7. Zookeeper Sue: A Lift-the-flap book by Chris Demarest
  8. Officer Buckle and Gloria bv Peggy Rathman
  9. Career Day by Anne Rockwell
