Staying Warm

The highlight of the evening was serving the parents and kids hot chocolate with marshmellows and whipped cream. It was delicious! The kids enjoyed drinking hot chocolate and devouring the marshmellows while listening to some cool stories about staying warm during the chilly winter months.

Books I read...
The Wolf's Chicken Stew by Keiko Kasza
Three Little Kittens by Paul Galdone E398.8 GAL
Knitty Kitty by David Elliott
Joseph Had a Little Overcoat by Simms Taback
Under My Hood I Have a Hat by Karla Kushin

Books I had on hand but didn't use....
A Hat for Minerva Louise by Janet Morgan Stoeke
Do YOU Have a Hat? Eileen Spinelli
Soup Day by Melissa Iwai
The Jacket I Wear In the Snow by Shirly Neitzel
Llama Llama Red Pajamas by Anna Dewdney (warm pajamas)
The Quilt by Ann Jonas
Oh Brother by Kathy Mallat
The Mitten: a Ukrainian folktale retold by Jim Aylesworth E398.2 AYL (too long, but nice story for older readers)

Activity
Hot Chocolate w/marshmellows and whipped cream
cups
spoons
straws
coffee maker to warm the water

Caution: I asked the parents to test the water before the serving it to the child. I warmed the water up 30 minutes before the program and it cooled by the time I was ready to use it.
