Box Stories

This week I borrowed the box stories idea from another good storytime website, Storytime Source Blog. Every now and then I run out of ideas and creative ways to keep storytime entertaining. So I am very thankful that there are others out there that offer suggestions and themes to keep me and the kids motivated for storytime. Next week I will be on vacation. I'm going to try to make more flannel boards and refresh the popular nursery rhymes and finger rhymes.

I could only find a few books with the stories referencing a box at my branch that I could read-aloud to the kids. I used the activity, What Do I Have in My Box Today? for closing out storytime. I think the kids enjoyed sticking there hand in the box and pulling out the little interesting things I put inside and showing it off to everyone.

Books
  1. It's My Birthday by Pat Hutchins
  2. Not a Box by Antionette Portis [Crowd favorite]
  3. Meeow and the Big Box by Sebastien Braun

  5. The Big Brown Box by Marisabina Russo [A little to long for the kids to read-aloud]\
