The moon, so bright in the sky at night. It is so far away but yet appears so close and near. There are many legends surrounding the moon...but I'm not going to go into detail about them because I'll be sitting all day scavaging the net finding over a million hits on moon legends and stories. So to keep it simple, we have some nice children fictional stories involving the moon for Monday' nights story-time. Here is a list a books that were plucked from the collection to read to the kids. There are probably more but most of them we didn't have at the branch. But these were good reads.
- Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes
- Moondogs by Daniel Kirk
- When the Moon Smile by pat Horacek
- What the Moon Sees, What the Sun See by Nancy Tafuri
- Moon Cake or Moon Game by Frank Asch
- See You Soon Moon by Donna Conrad
Songs/Fingerplays:
Twinkle, twinkle, little star
Hey, Diddle, Diddle- paper or finger puppets
